Why the watch triggers and the phone speaks

A Garmin watch can't make a sound for a third-party app. So we split the job in two, and it turned out to be the better design.

Connect IQ, the platform that runs apps on Garmin watches, has no audio. No text-to-speech, no sound playback. A coach that talks has to talk from somewhere else.

So Iffli splits the work. The watch watches: a full-screen data field follows your pace, heart rate and cadence, and knows your planned session. The phone speaks: when the watch says something is worth saying, the app turns it into a short sentence and plays it in your headphones.

Why it’s better this way

Your watch keeps doing what it does best. Multi-band GPS, your activity profiles, auto-lap and the FIT file are untouched, because Iffli is a data field and not a separate app.

Your headphones stay in full-quality stereo. The microphone is never opened, so your music doesn’t drop to phone-call quality.

Two sentences. One number each. Then silence.

That’s the rule every instruction follows: what was measured, then what to do. Nothing to read, nothing to tap.
